What: A catch-all for Newton as he realises he's been working too hard and then goes out to work hard on catching up on all the social stuff he's been missing because he's been working too hard. He then goes to check up on his robot babies and then back to the clinic to watch Godzilla to soothe his soul. Please, someone get him an intern. Or twelve.
Warnings: Newton should probably be his own warning.

[Making sure CONDOR knows she's here is one thing, but Myaxx still doesn't know many people here. So, with that in mind, she figures it's probably best to stay on good terms with the very few people she does know as well as she can - especially considering how rare it is for her to encounter people who she can actually stand being around. And, even if he's sort of weird, she can stand being around Newt.

She knocks on the door, sort of uncomfortable with the resulting sound despite the fact that 1. it's night and there are relatively few people around, 2. if they're going to notice an eight-foot-tall alien walking down the street they probably have by now and 3. she's here legally so it doesn't really matter anyway. But old habits die hard, and being nervous about everything all the time is one of the longest-running habits Myaxx has.]

[Don't let Newt know you can stand being around him. He'll never let you live it down.

By the time his door knocks, he's pouring hot water onto the box of ramen on his desk, having changed into comfier clothes (bright pajama pants and a University of Cambridge shirt one of his colleagues sent him ages ago, and a loose fitting zip-up hoodie. Whilst the clinic was primarily that--a clinic--Newt still hasn't had a chance to find himself an apartment and has ended up just living here. It was small, but he doesn't take up much space and he's only here to sleep and catch up with Kit anyway.]

It's open! [he shouts, moving the kettle from ramen pot to coffee mug to fill that too, glancing up at the door to see who, or what, it is.]

[As always, she has to duck a little to get through the door. Why are humans all so short?] Hey, it's Myaxx. Just thought I would stop by, I dunno if it's a bad time or anything.

[Newt's not exactly the prime specimen for height either, sorry Myaxx. He smiles at her tiredly as she walks in, waving her forward as he finishes filling his cup.]

Hey! No, it's not a bad time. I always got time for you.

[She examines what he's doing uncertainly as she approaches him, then squints and looks mildly affronted when she gets close enough to smell the coffee.]

What is that? It smells like it might be dangerous.

[Clearly she's got this "maintaining positive interpersonal relationships" thing down: Show up where someone lives late at night with no prior warning and insult whatever they're drinking. She knows exactly what she's doing.]

[He laughs when she is offended by the instant--to be honest, so would he in his college days but he now he doesn't have time for filter coffee at home--and he swirls the murky black soup before offering it to her.]

It's coffee. You drink it. [he smiles.] Made from a bean from a plant. Gives you energy and helps keep you awake. So it's basically my life-blood.

[She examines the stuff critically, still looking faintly disgusted.] Seems to me like just sleeping would be a better solution.

[It's not like Myaxx is any stranger to alternative methods of staying awake either, however: Ew, bean juice.]

Nah! You miss so much of your life sleeping! There's too much to do!

[he takes a slurp and goes back to his ramen pot, glancing at it before looking at Myaxx.] You want some noodles?

Right. I'm sure running on beans and stubbornness makes you much more efficient, too.

[Now she's examining the ramen, not looking immediately offended but still somewhat suspicious.] ...I guess? Are those another way of trying to avoid sleeping?

[He blinks before grinning.] Nah, they're a way to avoid dying. It's food, Myaxx.

Alright, alright. Couldn't be certain after the whole coffee thing. But, sure, I'll try your weird Earth food.

[As if she hasn't been living off of various "weird Earth food" since she left that pod.]

Man, coffee is great, you should totally try that too.

[he reaches up to grab another ramen pot and pours more hot water over it to get it started. He then roots around for another set of chopsticks but then thinks better of it and grabs a fork.]

So, hey! What can I do for yah? Other than ramen pots.

Uh-huh. How about I just take your word for it.

Well, uh. I haven't had any trouble with CONDOR so far, so that's not been an issue, but... [She sighs loudly and talks a little faster.] The place I've been staying is closing down so I need to know if there are any available apartments or anything nearby. Preferably ones that wouldn't be too put-off by an alien.

[He moves the ramen pot toward her and balances the fork on the lid before slurping down some of the coffee as he listens. He vaguely wonders where she had been staying.]

Well, I mean, if you ask CONDOR they could probably set something up for you. [he pulls the lid off and swirls his own ramen pot with his chopsticks to separate the noodles.] Or you could totally just crash here. It's not much but we have more space upstairs that's like, a real apartment. Kit uses it to store some of her stuff right now. And hey! Maybe you could help out with the clinic!

[She watches what Newt does, then pokes at her own ramen with the fork in an attempt to separate it. Maybe going to CONDOR would be the most reasonable course of action, but it's also the one that involves the most government intervention, which, ha ha no. She does not want to owe those people.

She glances up again at his second suggestion.] Hold on, really? 'Cuz that would mean having somewhere to stay and a job, and I have to wonder if there's some kind of catch here.

[He's started to shovel the noodles into his mouth, and has to slurp them up before he replies. His mouth is full. He's very uncouth.]

Well, I mean, I guess you'd have to put up with me and Kit. [he swallows and grins at her, snapping his chopsticks as he thinks.] But it's totally a thing I can do. You're a scientist right? What sort of things could you bring to the clinic?

Believe me, I have probably dealt with worse. [She barely knows who Kit is but she's inclined to assume that literally nobody is more obnoxious than Azmuth.]

Well, uh, if you mean as far as equipment - practically nothing. But I do have a lot of experience with technology, and I may be able to recognize some species that you would be unfamiliar with. [That last bit is only intended to be making fun of Earth a little bit, which means she's actively trying not to be offensive.]

[He continues eating and thinks on it before swallowing and nodding solemnly to himself.]

Yeah! That sounds great. You're totally welcome here. We could really use the help.

I should think so, if you're having to substitute beans for sleep. And... thanks for helping me out.

[With that, she immediately scoops a forkful of ramen into her mouth - then winces because it's a lot hotter than she was expecting. Oops.]

Anything for my friends, right? Seriously, it's no problem. [he smiles tiredly at her before glancing back to the screen.]

So, we could totally go and set you up now... or you could watch Godzilla with me.

[It's probably a good thing the ramen was too hot for Myaxx to swallow it right away, because if she had she might have choked on it. Since when is she anyone's friend? She's not sure if she should be flattered, irrationally offended, or just worried for Newt's sanity, even if she can stand him.]

Wait-- what's Godzilla? That's... some kind of lizard, right?

[To be fair, Newt's salinity has been in question for a long while, so she wouldn't be the first.

He shoves more noodles into his mouth and nods enthusiastically, pointing at a large poster on the back of the door.]

Not just some kind of lizard. It's the lizard!

... right. The lizard. Makes sense. [It doesn't make sense to her at all.] I had been under the impression that there was more than one lizard on Earth, but apparently I was mistaken.

[That gets Newt laughing.]

Well, yeah. But Godzilla is the best one. By far. Sorry, goannas, beardies and komodos, I love you but you're not Godzilla.

So, is that a matter of opinion, or is there something that makes this lizard objectively superior to all the other lizards?

[Well, she's vaguely interested now, at least enough to keep talking about it.]
