come one come all to newts chop shop

Who: Newt Geiszler, Kit Peddler and YOU
Where: Newt's clinic in the shady part of China town that Newt sort of lives in.
When: Pretty much whenever. The clinic is open five days a week, and this is a catchall.
What: Newt's clinic is still open for all wayward aliens, robots and cyborgs to be seen to without questions for free. Kit is his rude secretary hacker who is also pretty good (better) at fixing up the cyborgs.
Warnings: Bullshit science and Newt is a warning on his own, but will update if medical stuff happens.

[there's a few thread-starters within, but please feel free to hit this up!! The clinic's location is easy to get a hold of for anyone who needs it and a google search of Newt will reveal that he's actually really great at what he does and has lots of credibility as well as 6 pHDs. Back and Post dating is fine, just let me know!]

Yeah, sure - though, I'd rather you not get it from my hand, if that's alright. [She's pretty sure that's where humans usually get blood from, though most of her information on stuff like this has come from just keeping in mind whatever she's happened to notice.] I'd kinda prefer to avoid any sort of damage there. Would the arm work?
escapefromincarcecon: (WHAT)

[personal profile] escapefromincarcecon 2014-10-22 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. [She pulls back the sleeve of her ridiculous disguise-thing, revealing the bright red armor covering her forearm. After a moment of hesitation, she digs her claws into a couple carefully-located points on the seam of the bracer and starts to press down on the metal with her thumb. Then she stops.]

...How necessary is it to find somewhere with thin skin for this? I mean, you probably could reach the blood from anywhere, wouldn't going through thicker skin work? [She knows perfectly well that that would hurt like hell, and she also knows that it's probably painfully obvious that she's stalling. But most Chimera Sui Generis aren't in the habit of giving other species access to the thinner skin under their armor to begin with, and Myaxx is especially paranoid.]

Yeah, that's... about what I figured. [Dammit. Difficulty piercing through to begin with she might've been able to handle, but she really doesn't want to sit here and get stabbed with a needle repeatedly. She is actually not sure that's worth it.]

Okay, just hold on. [She replicates the precise placement of her hand on the seam of the bracer, and this time, opens it up, the seam emitting a series of vaguely-mechanical clicks.

She sets the armor piece aside on the nearest convenient surface, flexing her wrist experimentally and a little uncomfortably before holding up her arm, displaying the clearly-visible veins under the surface of the thin skin.]
There.

wow sorry for some reason it posted this wrong at first

[personal profile] escapefromincarcecon 2014-10-31 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Myaxx appears to make an active effort not to watch the process, but also keeps glancing over and looking a little horrified. The price she pays for being curious and paranoid.] Not totally. But my species does make a habit of protecting thin skin; a large portion of the surface of our skin is tough enough to be fairly difficult to damage anyway, but... well, there are some areas like this.

And we don't usually allow other species to access them, so count yourself lucky. [Or count her desperate. Same difference.]

[She Does Not Say Anything about the "cunning disguise" comment.]

[She looks at him with some incredulity.] Just how isolated is this place? It's like you've never seen more than maybe, what, two species from other planets?

[Of course, there are pros and cons to that. One of the major "pros" being that this may bring the chance of her being re-arrested here close to zero.]
escapefromincarcecon: (WHOA)

[personal profile] escapefromincarcecon 2014-11-04 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow.

[A pause, during which she continues Not Looking.]

So, how common would you say invasions are here?
escapefromincarcecon: (hmmm)

[personal profile] escapefromincarcecon 2014-11-06 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Myaxx listens carefully and thoughtfully (other than a moment of confused indignation when he reaches for her hand, because excuse you she did not say you could do that), nodding slowly when he finishes.] Well, good for you for not being taken over, I suppose. Humans do seem to display an... unusually wide range of abilities.

[personal profile] escapefromincarcecon 2014-11-07 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Unfortunately he did not account for just how twitchy Myaxx is. It is very important to note that she agreed to having a needle jabbed into her arm, not to contact between your hand and her hand.]

So they've just got one person focusing on interplanetary interactions? Wow. Guess it's good for us that at least you're around, then.

[It's not really presented as a compliment so much as a statement of fact, but hey. Take it or leave it.]
escapefromincarcecon: (WHAT)

[personal profile] escapefromincarcecon 2014-11-07 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[For someone who doesn't technically have eyebrows, Myaxx does a fantastic job of giving the impression of raising one dubiously.] I would certainly hope not. I didn't come here to be taken apart.

Good. [She picks up her bracer again and starts turning it over in her hands, trying to find the mechanisms to re-secure it and muttering to herself.] Why do they always make these so hard to put back on, who designs these things...
escapefromincarcecon: (meh)

[personal profile] escapefromincarcecon 2014-11-09 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
...Eh, why not. Not like putting it back on is working right now anyway. [She may want to take a look at the mechanisms herself later; come to think of it, there's no reason to assume the crash wouldn't have knocked those out of place.

She hands Newt the piece - a contoured tube of red metal, opened up lengthwise along a seam, with hinged pieces placed at the wrist and elbow. Ciruitry and sensors run along the interior, protected under a clear, smooth coating.]
It's built to only open up with exactly the right pressure application, and it only closes properly with a different one. Which, for some reason, is always nearly impossible to get.
