CELEBRITY SINGLES AUCTION: THE ACTUAL POST

Who: Anybody either letting themselves be auctioned or interested in bidding in the CELEBRITY SINGLES AUCTION
Where: LA city hall
When: NOW ! (Afternoon on February 5th!)
What: CELEBRITY SINGLES AUCTION (FOR CHARITY)
Warnings: Nothing yet!

The hall where the auction is due to take place is all decked out in pink, white and red Valentine's decorations – hearts everywhere, the odd glittery cupid. Probably someone is selling appropriately decorated cupcakes. At the far end is the stage, where each CELEBRITY SINGLE in turn will have their hand in DATE auctioned off to the highest bidder.

SO HERE'S HOW THIS IS GOING TO WORK:

- Tag in with your character/NPC if they're offering themselves up in the name of DATE CHARITY. Include a little bit about what kind of public image they have, especially if they're an NPC.
- If you have a character or NPC who wants to bid on other character/s, reply to them with your character's bid – just the amount of their bid is fine, it doesn't have to be a Full Actual Tag or anything!
- If your character has been definitively outbid, though, make sure you reply to say so, rather than leaving the other bidders hanging.
- Be realistic about how much money your character has to spend on this kind of thing! This is for charity so generous donations are appreciated, of course, but not everybody is a millionaire.

The starting bid for all CELEBRITY DATES is $50.

Remember that characters who have volunteered to be auctioned as superheroes are advised do so in costume to avoid compromising their secret identities!

If you didn't already establish an NPC on the planning post for this event but you just had an idea for one that you really want to use, go ahead and do it, we do not mind.

Teddy is having serious misgivings regarding letting Milly talk him into this. For one thing, he's not even that famous. Sure, he's been in the newspaper a couple times and he had a 30 second interview in a local news TV spot (Unregistered Heroes: the Villains of Vigilantism?), but he certainly isn't on the level of most of the other heroes here. For another thing, dates aren't really his area of expertise. Like, at all.

Still, he looks his best because Teddy always looks his best. Skin a pleasant shade of green, hair and clothing immaculate, teeth perfectly white, eyes almost unnaturally blue. He doesn't exactly seem thrilled to be here, but Teddy can socialize with the best of them, and he returns smiles and sips his non-alcoholic cocktail with at least a shred of grace.

Dirk wanders around, out of costume, trying to find a good conversation to eavesdrop on. Anything to keep him from having to watch Jake up there. Why did he come here at all? Oh, right, he can't ever let anything go and likes to make everyone suffer, especially himself, because he's a huge asshole. Jake probably didn't even forget about their totally platonic romcom marathon bro date. He probably just wanted an excuse to not spend time with Dirk, but he was too nice to say it because he's a decent guy instead of an obnoxious shithead 110% of the time.

At least the cupcakes taste good.

While Tron had turned down participating in the auction, he had at least taken the time to drop by the event for a short while. He didn't like the idea that so many known members of the superhero community were present and was convinced of an impending crime spree, so he was mostly just there to be visibly supporting the event and talk to some of the more notable attendees before heading off on patrol.

He was there in full costume, ready to head out as soon as possible, and was currently wandering the room to make sure he had spoken to the requisite parties.

Candace Lovelace, who is definitely not Kara Thrace but does sort of look like her from behind, stands near the bar. Former CIA operative and (very briefly an) actress, she’s the host of the hit reality series Who Wants to Marry a Supervillain? and its sister show Trading Lairs. Her company’s gone under some fire recently for “associating with known criminals” and “harboring fugitives,” whatever. A little boozing and schmoozing at a charity event can’t hurt, and it’s a good way to scope out potential contestants.

Candace is here to look good and chew bubblegum. Unfortunately for everyone, she’s never out of bubblegum.

Vanessa Goldpaw

The face and founder of successful corporation Goldpaw Tech is ALL THE HECK OVER this thing, to the faint dismay of her company's board of directors, who prefer it when she is working on scientific innovations to when she is pandering to the kind of people who want to date busty leopards.

She's as enthusiastic as she is in most of her public appearances when she steps up to be bid on – she loves doing stuff like this and she makes it clear she's looking forward to the actual date part.

Though Wildcat can't actually bid because she's in the auction herself, she can't help but take interest when Vanessa Goldpaw takes the stage. She's all about busty leopards, and she actually watches the bidding with great interest. If only she had the money to even spend ten minutes with Vanessa Goldpaw. She was practically her hero.

Wow guess who would DEFINITELY rather be hiding under a table than doing this? The West Coast Trailblazers' resident stubby Alternian guy, is who. He is, of course in costume, although he was asked not to bring his signature sickles for health and safety reasons and he's feeling a little silly without them.

He doesn't straight up admit on stage that he's only doing this because Mockingjay made him feel like an asshole for not wanting to do something for charity, but he definitely comes across more awkward and sullen than would be ideal.

A woman in her ambiguous mid twenties jumps up to an offer of 100 dollars almost immediately. She looks like she might be some kind of high profile photographer, with a sort of artistic appearance.

Golgotha

Golgotha isn't exactly a famous or well-known hero, but he figures this is a god way to get his name and image out there. Plus, charity is heroic! So what better way to spend his Valentine's Day?

He's excited and jittery as he waits for the bidding. He waves out to the audience.

Junpei'd like to imagine he's looking cool and suave. However, no-one ever looked cool and suave in an outfit as brighly coloured as his is.... and he never managed the act in his life, anyway. So - here, have a hopeless, excited dork in the spotlights.

With nearly three years of heroism under her belt and a leading position in an increasingly successful and well-known team, it seems a safe bet that Spectrum has her fair share of fans. With that in mind, she was quick to sign up for the event; there are far worse things one could do for a good cause, after all.

In fact, not only is the idea not an unpleasant one in her mind, she's actually been rather looking forward to it! While she is of course in costume with her hood up, her cheery grin is clearly visible as she looks to the audience.

Lacking any kind of social graces, they are standing stock still on stage, browsing the internet and only barely processing external stimuli. They've set aside enough power to process any bids on their own platform, and that's it.

Occasionally they twitch their face plates in order to indicate that yes, they are paying attention.

Sitting at one of the tables near the stage and sipping a fancy drink, Kit is armed with her paddle and determined to outbid anyone who tries to buy a date with Legion.

Dovey Bundles, teen acoustic pop music sensation, is so! honored! to have been asked to participate in a celebrity charity auction!!! She LOVES charity events and she is so!!! excited!!! to get to know her fans!!!! Currently she is standing in front of a canvas backdrop advertising her latest album, waving and beaming at anyone who happens to make eye contact with her.

Katniss is here, as much as she doesn't want to be. She's in full hero costume, complete with her fancy synthetic wings, though she at least made a fumbling attempt to put on some makeup earlier. Possibly she received some assistance from another Trailblazer. She has never really had to dress herself for this kind of occasion before.

Though she's been seething utter vitriol to those close to her about this all week, she's at least trying to put her smiling game face on for the rich people who are offering the poor money in exchange for an evening with her. The only reason she's here at all is that she would feel like a piece of shit if she prioritized moderate social discomfort above helping out troubled families.

She's wearing her orange tinged goggles and her long vest that flares into a bird like tail. She has her bow slung around her shoulders, though she doesn't actually have any arrows prepared for use.

She's pretty close to wanting to pop one through someone's wineglass though, and despite her attempts to remain classy, this is visible on her face from time to time.

Jon is at school, but a professional auction service rep bids 5000 dollars in his name.

Wildcat

Wildcat has turned up to the auction in her full sabre-toothed tiger form, with the additions of a floral headpiece delicately balanced over one of her ears and a small corsage pinned to her small nubby tail. She's still wearing her domino mask--of course--but she's not expecting anyone to bid on her. That's partly the reason behind her cat-form. She's mostly here to make sure nobody shifty bids on her friends and to make sure all goes smoothly and as planned.

She takes her shipping chart very seriously.

The same excitable girl from Karkat and Dovey's threads strikes again and asks her dad permission to place a bid of 200 dollars on the sabre tooth tiger. She seems particularly ecstatic about this one.

STARBREAKER

Milly is here in her Starbreaker costume down to the domino mask, TOTALLY not having second thoughts. Okay, she's a little nervous, but it's for charity! Charity is important. More than that, she's here to bid on some of her fellow heroes with her father's money. FOR CHARITY. Not because she's hoping to score a date with any cute heroes, okay???

Regardless, she's excited to be here. She doesn't know who's going to bid on her, but at the very least, it's a chance to get her face out there (so to speak) and maybe get a little name recognition. This is how you make it big in the hero circuit!

Is it the man who holds captive the hearts and loins, mainly loins, of several continents; who with his every movement embodies feline grace; whose muscles move like mice beneath his exposed arms, recalling the Latinate etymology of muscle; who wears a suit as casually as he might fill a pair of ripped jeans; who has been tapped to play the lead in the forthcoming Fifty Shades of Aubergine film adaptation; who smolders like a cigarette butt stubbed phallically upon an ashtray; who could very well exude some dangerous aphrodisiac pheromone, but nobody's too concerned--?
