SCARY TOWER SIEGE #2
Who: Downtown LA Rescuers/Captives
Where: That tower that just hatched from that office building.
When: Saturday March 15th, around 6PM for when they appear.
What: A creepy looking tower hatches out of a downtown office building and superheroes come to fight it and save its captives.
Warnings: Violence, body horror, mind control, fucking creepy bullshit.
A spiral tower looms ahead, the rubble of its shattered camouflage still littering the ground. Civilians panic, the streets crowding with an unexpected traffic jam. Cyborgs flood the streets, and defensive fire opens from above.
Eventually, you break into the inside of a vast tower, like a tall layered cylinder of steel and black metal. You can see a seemingly endless height above you, and an endless depth below. Each layer is lit by a ring of multi-hued light that seems to bleed into the black material below it, like veins into flesh. A circle is cut through each layer from the tower's top to bottom, and occasionally a vast black form will rise and fall between layers - a mass of black metal with lights like eyes and grasping mechanical hands. Sometimes it takes captives with it.
Cages line the exterior walls like an arena, with other restraints set up on the layered floors outside. There is a tone of clinical order and structure without, though the black metal leaks a substance almost like the sweat of an animal. Cages open and close themselves, and smaller machines and familiar looking cyborgs wander the floors. Entire cage sections can be removed mechanically and taken to lower levels. Muffled voices and the animal cries of captured strays can be heard around the shaft, as well as the rhythmic hum of vast machinery down below.
There is no natural light here, and the tower's shaft travels far beneath the earth.
[OOC: There will be specific mod NPC posts made within each rescue log for dealing with the central hub of the AI. Remember, if you want to fight one of the Nightforce, ask a mod.]

Still, the familiarity is dredging something back, and she lifts her head, giving the air a small sniff.

She glances at Karkat and Jon uncertainly, keeping her bow loaded in case they get assaulted by any more cyborgs.
"...Nessa, come on...we're here to get you..." she says softly. She feels like there is probably something smarter to do here, but she's at a loss. She swallows, and looks to Karkat again, as if hoping that he'll have a better idea.

"Fuck," he mutters, and on an impulse shoves his hand through the bars alongside Ghost, reaching out for her – he withdraws it with a yelp immediately when she snaps at him, though.
no subject
"Don't scare her," he cautions under his breath.
Ghost finally surrenders whatever remained of his direwolfdog dignity and whimpers at Nessa.

She's panting now, obviously exhausted and stressed and completely at a lost with what to do. But something about the combination of everyone's voices, and almost attacking the arm she now recognises as Karkat's, has her getting hold of her own mind again, and the tigers eyes gloss over for a second, before the form starts to shaking and then melt away, revealing the tiny girl.
Her clothes and face are covered in blood and oil from where she and Cynthia had attacked the cyborgs, and she's shaking, holding her head with fear. And then Nessa looks up at the four faces at the entrance to her cage, and her stomach drops.
She couldn't remember what happened.
"Whu--..." Her voice cracks, and she looks around her cage in confusion. "Where's Cynthia?"
no subject
"We don't know but we're going to find her," she says, her voice soft. "We just need to get this cage open, first."
no subject
"Where does it open," he starts to ask, but it's clear Nessa's not going to have the answer. He steps back to look over the cage until he can see where the door seems to be, and he hooks his sickles around the bar at the edge, grits his teeth, and hauls.
no subject
"I can cut through the bars, but it could take awhile," says Jon. "Katniss, do you think you could blow the door off the hinges without hurting anyone?"
It would be easier if the cages had a visible locking mechanism, but jon hadn't been able to figure out how his own cage had worked, and these could be different, designed to hold much larger animals.

"She was with me. I don't..." She cuts off, looking up at her friends with concern and a look of sheer loss.
"I don't remember what happened. What if I..."
no subject
"Wildcat," she says, carefully. "I need you to stand back from the bars so this doesn't hit you. It's...it's going to be okay."
no subject
"Chill out, okay," he says, ears flicking back, "they weren't gonna put her in the quadruped pen, duh, we'll find her."
no subject
"We'll find her," Jon echoes firmly. "She's tough. I've been training with her. They must have split you up because they thought you were a threat."
He wishes he could be as confident as he sounds, but Anya had been doing this a lot longer than Cynthia had, and she lost her arm. Still, he knows whatever happened isn't Nessa's fault, and they need to get her out of here. He takes a step back as Katniss nocks an arrow.

"O-okay."
Nessa wants to believe her friends. She wants to believe that Cynthia is okay, and that when they'd come for the other girl, they'd left her alone, but she just can't get what Metabee said out of her head. That they were going to get dragged over there sooner or later. Oh god, what if she had been?
This is all getting too much for her, and she starts to shake.
no subject
"Come on, let's go," she says. She tries to be gentle, but there is only so gentle one can be when the air is so oppressively tense.
