ANOTHER OPEN LOG

Who: Sollux and anyone who could be in the Trailblazer dorms.
Where: Trailblazer dorms.
When: January 31st and onward, whenever is convenient.
What: Sollux finally ventures out of Karkat's room for little bits at a time, and typically makes messes.
Warnings: Sollux, mostly.

She puts her hands up in a way to show that she has no weapons and gives him a small smile. She recognises the word he uses--he probably wasn't expecting a human to be able to speak Alternian, much less with her beautiful pronunciation. Nessa glances at the washcloth with some curiosity. It's like having Karkat here for the first time all over again.

"Little," she butchers in Troll, before continuing in English. "Karkat taught me some."

He stares at her for a moment, and then gestures at his throat.

"You need more sound," he says.

[purrsuit]

She gives him a weak smile and shrugs, attempting to make sounds more like Alternian ones. She fails, not having the vocal chords to support it, and instead of insect noises she ends up just making cat noises. A range of sounds she's far more practised with.

She does manage a mangled "No," in Alternian though.

"I kinda can't make the same noises as you. But I try!"

"Okay," he says, sounding kind of embarrassed. He glances away. "Not human sound. Not human chxk." The last word is something in Alternian, a sharp chirping sound.

She doesn't recognise the word, but ends up squinting, trying to rack her brain for it. She definitely can't match the chirps or the insecty noises that Trolls make and it's a little frustrating. She gives him a rough shrug.

"Sorry," she starts, before tilting her head and looking at him carefully. "I'm Nessa."

"I'm Sollux Captor," he says after a moment, complete with the Alternian chirp on the X and the click on the C. "I was going clean."

[purrsuit]

She gives a look at the cloth and moves into the room a little more, peering over to the shower.

"D'you need some help, Sollux?" she asks. " I can show you how it works?"

He looks at her, and then he looks at the shower. He frowns, shaking his head.

"I'm don't like water," he says.

[purrsuit]

She can't help but smile a little, cautiously moving into the room a little more. "I'm not a fan of water either. It's okay," she says, before glancing over to the sink, using her hands to demonstrate what she says.

"We can put some water in the sink to make it easier? Then you can wash," she lifts one of her hands in a very cat-like motion and rubs her face, "Your face?"

He watches her hand gestures more than he listens to her words. At the end, he doesn't look particularly assured, even if he isn't outright rejected her idea.

"Okay..." he mumbles. "I'm not look."

He stares at the floor instead.

She's using her hands very pointedly on purpose. Karkat benefited a lot from it when the language gap was still pretty large, and he managed to come out of it with a good understanding of English. She figures anything that can help, right? She kind of wishes she had her sketchbook on her.

Moving next to him, Nessa turns to plug the sink and starts the water flowing, far less violently than the showerhead had been. Whilst it's filling, she pulls open a cupboard and tugs out a particularly fluffy green towel from the pile for Sollux to use. She then places that on the laundry bin and tests the water to make sure it's not too hot, before turning the tap off once it's full enough.

"Here," she says, moving her hand to brush his shoulder slightly to indicate it was ready. "This should be easier."

He looks at the water warily, but comes over regardless. When it isn't running he manages to find it somewhat less offensive - at least if he doesn't have to submerge himself in it. He finds it being warm helps too.

He dunks in the facecloth and moves it around a little. He sounds kind of embarrassed of the next part.

"Thank," he says.

She watches him for a moment just to make sure everything was alright. She had a feeling that the running water was causing an issue--if she had the choice, she'd always pick a shallow bath over a shower (she wasn't sure if that was a tiger thing or not)--and looks pleased that he seems to be dealing better.

And with that, she moves closer to the door. "No purroblem," she nods. "I'm gonna go. Lemme know if you need any..." she pauses, and then attempts her final Alternian word. "Help."
