EVERYONE HATES TIME TRAVEL PART ONE
Who: Anybody stepping out of the TIME HOLE into present-day LA, anybody who wants to witness this going down – or to intervene
Where: Downtown LA
When: August 2nd (now!)
What: A bunch of time travellers arrive in the present to try to fix their dystopian future. See here for more details!
Warnings: time travel. everyone hates time travel.
It's late at night when the portal opens, an undulating patch of wrongness hanging in the warm summer air just a few inches above the street, bordered by shimmering multicoloured light.
A car swerves to avoid it. There's a scream or two, and people start to clear the area, eager to put some distance between themselves and the potential scene of some kind of Incident – others stay put, cell phone cameras at the ready.
If anything, though, when people start to step out of the portal, the onlookers calm down a little – this is, at least, not going to be another dinosaur incident. Cameras flash anyway. Another person screams, presumably because they're just on a roll with screaming at this point.
More than one person has called the Alpha Force hotline by now – but they might well not be the first heroes to arrive on the scene...
______________________
Everyone is cordially encouraged to make multiple threads here for either time-travellers, present-day people, or both. Feel free to NPC passersby etc. as well!
Remember that villains from the future who are following the good guys through are probably going to come through at a slight delay.

Re: SOLUS PRIME/ARCEE
However, when they do arrive, Rodimus isn't sure what to make of what's going on - although the humans sure seem upset about it. He swiftly transforms back to robot mode, still a reasonable distance away from the as-yet-unidentified mystery vortex, but plenty close enough to see that there's a gaggle of humans in matching outfits in front of it.
"Who's that," he asks Drift, pointing to the lone Cybertronian who's arrived. He doesn't recognise her, but she has a strong air of importance.

He's about to write it off, except...Should he know her? He feels like he should. In fact, he feels like he does, but he sure as heck doesn't recognize her. If it is someone he's met before, then they must've undergone a few major modifications.
"Let's get a bit closer, I can't even make out a badge from back here."

They're only about a hundred feet away or so now and Rodimus is visibly relieved when he sees the flash of red in the unknown bot. He grins turning to his friend.
"An Autobot! She's an Autobot," Rodimus says excitedly to Drift. Maybe they were finally getting those much-needed reinforcements (although that doesn't explain the humans). This time he raises his voice to be heard by the newcomer, all sense of caution abandoned. "Hey! You're an Autobot!"

She takes a look at the assembled humans and apparently judges the situation more or less under control, because she moves toward Rodimus and Drift, careful to step around the humans. She moves with relative ease and grace despite the massive fucking hammer strapped to her back.
"I am," she says, optics dimming slightly. "We're on the same side. I'm working with the others who emerged through the portal. I can only help you'll be willing to help us, too."
She's not sure she should reveal her former identity to them just yet, if they haven't picked up on it by now -- she's hesitant to tell them what becomes of them in the future, not when they're hardly prepared to hear it.

"Wh - I mean, help you with what? I figured you'd be here to help us," says Rodimus with undisguised surprise. Does she not realize that Megatron is here on Earth? What could be more urgent than that?

Now that they're up closer, and now that she's talked a bit, Drift's reminded of Arcee for some reason. But she's back at the base, last time he'd seen her anyway. And there's something else that diverts his attention for the moment.
"Wait a-" He points over at the hammer. "Is that- on your back- that's not what I think it is...is it?"

Something flickers in Solus' optics as she looks at the both of them, something tugging at her spark -- but she sets it aside. She has to. She's here to course correct the timeline and keep everything from going so completely to hell, not to fondly reminisce about Drift and Rodimus. She's here to stay on task.
Even so, just the faintest hint of a smile touches her face as she reaches over her shoulder to close a hand over the handle of the hammer.
"Yes, it's the Forge." Solus pulls it from her back, wielding it in both hands with apparent ease -- impressive, for someone her size. She stands up a little taller, looking them both in the optics in turn. "My name is Solus Prime."
no subject
"Sorry, did'you say Solus Prime? How...wh- how's that...how's that even possible?"
no subject
Because seriously, what kind of person does something like that. Solus doesn't strike him as the type to make those claims without good reason, but..."You know Optimus? He's the one with the matrix." And they should know...Considering the giant game of 'keep away' the Autobots had to play with Soundwave and Megatron to get it back.

"Optimus may have the Matrix now, but that won't always be the case." Solus' voice is level, but even so her optics dim in sorrow just to remember. "I am a Prime -- the next Prime. Ten years from now, I am the one who carries the Matrix of Leadership."
