Who: Celestia and Tron
Where: Alpha Tower
When: Nowabouts
What: Alpha Force's only remaining members discuss the depleted state of their team.
Warnings: None.
The 50th floor of Alpha Tower was well-lit and spacious, with wall to floor windows and elegant white decor. Further up were living quarters; this floor was a little more business purposes, but nonetheless more relaxed and private than the conference rooms and event halls the tower housed lower down.
Celestia sat back with a heavy sigh on the long white couch in the centre of the main room, and set down the papers she'd been looking through on the equally long coffee table that stood parallel to it. The latest batch of applications from parties interested in joining Alpha Force, and not one of them from a hero who fit the bill.
She worried that perhaps she was being too harsh; that there were worthy heroes in here who she was turning down. But she'd been a member of Alpha Force for longer than most of these applicants had been alive, and she liked to think she had an eye for what made a good member. And most of these weren't it.
The one at the top of the pile was from a woman with prehensile earlobes whose gimmick, as if she needed one on top of that, was a penchant for vulgar catchphrases. Underneath that one was someone who made it very clear that his reason for applying was that he hoped that Celestia would marry him if he was accepted onto the team. There were better pickings than that, but none of them seemed right, and the interviews she'd conducted already had backed up that judgement. Alpha Force was down to two members, and it didn't look like it was about to fill out any time soon.

He glanced up, catching sight of Celestia, and headed into the center of the room to take one of the chairs opposite the couch.]
I had a feeling you'd be here.
[He sat down, dropping the stack rather unceremoniously on the table.]
I can't say this is the list of applicants I was hoping for.

Nor I. I had hoped we might hear from some old friends, but... [She shook her head. Her ridiculous multicoloured hair rippled more than the movement should have really logically justified.] I take it you haven't found anybody worth calling in.

[He grudgingly picked up his stack of applications, thumbing through the pages and reviewing the names.]
In my opinion, most of these heroes either lack the skills or motive. They need to understand that this team is more than a vanity trip.

I suppose we've no choice but to seek out worthy heroes and ask them. There are always those who may be reluctant to put themselves forward...

[He replaced the stack on the table, clasping his hands together as he considered their current situation, leaning forward in his chair.
Los Angeles has a strong hero community, we can at least entertain the idea of finding temporary members until we are able to expand our search.

[He paused, musing over some of the options.]
Not that I'm familiar with magic, but what of the Sorcerer Supreme or any members of his Enclave? Do you know of anyone there we should consider?

Hm... Have you spoken to Legion, at all? The alien AI collective. They might not have quite the Alpha Force public image, but they're very efficient and very cooperative...

[He paused, looking very focused on a spot on the table as he quickly though over other options.]
What would you think of a temporary alliance with The Shepherds. I understand they've been established here in LA for some time and are quite a competent group.

[He glanced out the window, musing on the similarities between the two mysterious sinkholes that started all their problems. He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose.]

I know I wasn't able to be at the UCLA sinkhole, but I know there were many others present besides yourself. When we approach Legion and CONDOR perhaps we should suggest they check with some of them for samples.
