Who: Cynthia and Nessa
Where: Downtown Los Angeles
When: March 11, nighttime
What: Cynthia and Nessa go on patrol, only to be attacked and captured by evil cyborg monsters.
Warnings: Violence, the aforementioned evil cyborg monsters
[Going on patrol during a Level 4 Outbreak has not been exactly what Cynthia thought it would be. She expected CRIMINAL ACTS and HEROIC BATTLES happening at least once every couple hours. At least. ...Which, alright, wasn't really a reasonable set of assumptions to be carrying into this. But she and Nessa will find something soon, right? There has to be nefarious activity happening somewhere.
She slides off Nessa's back after they round a street corner. As cool as it is to be riding a tiger, Cynthia wants to stretch her legs a little.]
Ughh, are we ever gonna find villains to take down? [Punches to the air accentuate the last two words.]

She gives a small huff when they come to another empty alley (by now she's psyched herself up to fight something) and glances behind as Cynthia slides off, using the opportunity to shift back into her human form.
Nessa digs around and pulls out her phone, checking the device for any updates.]
It's quiet. [she looks around, having always wanted to say this.] Too quiet. This doesn't feel right.

[In fact, the silence and emptiness are kind of creepy. If she weren't a superhero-in-training with a lot to live up to, she might be scared. But she is, and being scared isn't in her job description.
After a few moments, a barely audible noise comes from further down the street. It's hard to identify what kind of noise it is, since it's so quiet.]
[She turns to Nessa.] Did you hear that? [She sounds a little bit nervous, but also excited. Naturally, her mind races with the possibilities. Almost all of the possibilities she thinks about are unlikely, kind of absurd ones.]
no subject
It was totally a bad idea.]
Yeah. Stay close to me, okay?
[She watches the alley carefully before the noise sounds again, this time slightly louder, and Nessa wastes no time in dropping to her now paws, and giving a warning growl over her sabretoothed jaws.]

Okay...it sounds like it's coming clos––
[Suddenly, some sort of creature rushes toward them from inside the alley. It looks kind of like a small dog, but it's bipedal, with a human-looking face and feet. The creature is making a shrill noise as it comes at them. It is honestly one of the most horrifying things Cynthia has seen.
Cynthia lets out a yelp of terror and surprise, and, through some sort of reflex, she uses her powers to fling a metal trash can sitting in the alley at the monster. Both it and the trash can slam against the alley wall, but the creature recovers after a moment and resumes its freaky advance with a limp.]

When Cynthia throws the can, it makes Nessa jump, her fur standing on end, but she recovers quickly, scrabbling forward toward the cyborg creature. It didn't smell right. Oil and burning flesh should never merge.
She swipes one of her massive paws at the creature's legs, causing it to topple forward, and she quickly presses her paw down on it's back, pinning it as it leaked oil all over her.]

Is it...dead? [There's a tremor of something in her voice. Whether it's fear, disgust, or pity is hard to tell.
She sidles towards it slowly, then sticks out her foot and pokes at it. Nothing. She pokes at it again. Nothing. A third time, and she gets a reaction. It tries to lunge at her with the intent to bite her, but Nessa's paw is luckily still pinning it down. Nevertheless, it struggles with even more fervor than before. It might be a little bit angry.
Cynthia stumbles back with another yelp, and her breathing speeds up. Not a nice surprise.] I guess not! ...What are we gonna do with it?

Nessa roars down at the squirming creature, and wastes no time in attempting to dispatch it, sabre-toothed fangs clamping down on it's neck with a sickening crunch. She tears her head back up, ripping a lot of machinery and organic material out in her mouth, the cyborg twitching beneath her paws, squirting oil straight onto Nessa's face.
She drops everything in her mouth and yowls, clenching her eyes shut a she felt the sting of the mixture of oil and blood reach them.
At least the cyborg is dead because Nessa quickly shifts back, her face and arms all covered in the soupy mess, and starts to furiously rub at her eyes, obviously in a lot of pain.]
Owowow!!
no subject
Oh, god! Are you okay? [She panics a little bit, unsure of what to do. After a moment or two of floundering, she grabs Nessa's hood and brings it around to wipe at the nasty oil-and-blood mixture on Nessa's face.] I knew I shouldn't have poked it!
[Meanwhile, more faint sounds come from the back of the alley, where it's dark. This can't be good.]

--I'm fine! Just got something in my-- [She's cut off by the noises making themselves far more noisy, apparently the smell and sounds of their companions untimely demise drawing them over.]
--Flourish! I can't see!
