SCARY TOWER SIEGE #2
Who: Downtown LA Rescuers/Captives
Where: That tower that just hatched from that office building.
When: Saturday March 15th, around 6PM for when they appear.
What: A creepy looking tower hatches out of a downtown office building and superheroes come to fight it and save its captives.
Warnings: Violence, body horror, mind control, fucking creepy bullshit.
A spiral tower looms ahead, the rubble of its shattered camouflage still littering the ground. Civilians panic, the streets crowding with an unexpected traffic jam. Cyborgs flood the streets, and defensive fire opens from above.
Eventually, you break into the inside of a vast tower, like a tall layered cylinder of steel and black metal. You can see a seemingly endless height above you, and an endless depth below. Each layer is lit by a ring of multi-hued light that seems to bleed into the black material below it, like veins into flesh. A circle is cut through each layer from the tower's top to bottom, and occasionally a vast black form will rise and fall between layers - a mass of black metal with lights like eyes and grasping mechanical hands. Sometimes it takes captives with it.
Cages line the exterior walls like an arena, with other restraints set up on the layered floors outside. There is a tone of clinical order and structure without, though the black metal leaks a substance almost like the sweat of an animal. Cages open and close themselves, and smaller machines and familiar looking cyborgs wander the floors. Entire cage sections can be removed mechanically and taken to lower levels. Muffled voices and the animal cries of captured strays can be heard around the shaft, as well as the rhythmic hum of vast machinery down below.
There is no natural light here, and the tower's shaft travels far beneath the earth.
[OOC: There will be specific mod NPC posts made within each rescue log for dealing with the central hub of the AI. Remember, if you want to fight one of the Nightforce, ask a mod.]

STARBREAKER & MYSTICALMAN RESCUE TIMES
She really doesn't know how to feel about all of this. They're horrific, those cyborg mutants, they're creepy and macabre and terrifying, but...she has to wonder. Is that would people see when they look at her, if they knew? It only strengthens her resolve to keep her secret under lockdown. No one can know, especially not after this.
She had run into Mysticalman by chance. Milly is pretty sure -- as in, like, 99% sure -- that this guy is actually her upstairs neighbor, the weird magician she'd given Mooncrash to and the same one who had crashed her and Cynthia's sleepover to talk loudly over their Netflix cartoon binge. She doesn't say anything, but she really wants to.
When the tower appears in the middle of downtown, all spooky and ominous-looking, it's a no-brainer. Milly grabs Eusine by the cape and zooms straight for it, fully intending to punch her way through whatever obstacles she might find. She really, really hopes she'll find her friends in there -- and if not, she'll at least get to beat something up.

...Except now he seems to be lost, and there's even more of those cyborgs kicking around, and he's in the thick of a group of them. There's a lot of screeching of metal and the yelping of cyborg dogs as he's slashing and throwing his way through the crowd, desperately seeking some kind of exit. He can handle himself probably, but some backup couldn't hurt, he thinks.

When they reach Neku's location, he blasts a few of the monsters with his EMP gun before they can detect them, the hapless creatures collapsing to the floor when their cyborg limbs short out. They're still entirely too strong and too fast for him to handle alone, but this time he came equipped; funny how much easier it is to defeat those things when you can just EMP them into submission and team up with someone who can punch holes into walls.
Of course, this small victory pales in comparison to the exhilaration he feels when he notices who they're rescuing.
"It's you!" he exclaims, voice somehow louder than the chaos of whirring metal and animal cries. He definitely sounds relieved.

"Neku!" she cries, swooping and diving down like a bullet cutting through the air, rocketing straight for him. She's incredibly relieved to see him, but there's no time to relax yet, not when he's being swarmed by these things. Even with his recent practice with his powers and what he's showing for it, it's not enough for him to fend for himself. Milly comes in like a wrecking ball, slamming bodily into one of the larger cyborgs. "Hey! You leave him alone!!"

Milly picks up one cyborg and hurls it at the one threatening Eusine, knocking them both into malfunction territory with one hit. She pumps her fist victoriously. "All right! Not too shabby, if I do say so myself... Neku! Are you hurt at all?"
→ RESCUING CYNTHIA

It can't have been less than a few days, but she has no idea. Hopefully it's been long enough that people have noticed her absence and are now looking for her. The thought of being stuck here forever – or at least long enough for the machines to get their metal hands on her – is horrifying. She saw what happened to the girl who was in her cage before. The machines removed her arm and replaced it with a metal one. Cynthia does not want to find out how awful an experience that was. In fact, she's pretty scared about the possibility that she's next.
There's also Nessa. Cynthia doesn't know where she was taken after she shapeshifted into a tiger or whether she's okay. If only she were stronger...They wouldn't have gotten overwhelmed, for starters, and they would have broken out by now, and Nessa would be with her and safe, and these monsters wouldn't be hurting people because Cynthia would beat them all up with the awesome telekinetic powers that she would definitely have mastered, and ––
Cynthia is shaken from the same thoughts she's been thinking for the past four days by a commotion somewhere nearby. The noises are faint, and it's hard to tell what they are at this point. What she can tell is that a group of the cyborgs just ran past her cage toward the commotion. Is someone here? Is someone fighting these things? The thought lights up a spark of hope in her.
"Hey!" Cynthia yells as loud as she can, which is pretty loud. "Is anyone there? Over here! Please help!" She repeats these shouts every so often, hoping to guarantee that whoever is over there can hear her.

Of course, this doesn't even compare to the blow made to his dignity when Starbreaker decides to drag him around by the cape. Really.
And now, here they are inside the imposing, gloomy tower. It would be a lie to say his mood isn't spoiled at all by the sight of those rows of cages and the sound of howling animals... but they're here to save people, and there's sadly no time to wax poetic about the macabre nature of the place.
When he hears a voice - a now familiar voice - cry out for help, a wave of relief washes over him. There's no telling if whoever is behind this hurt Cynthia, but she appears to be feeling well enough to shout... which prompts him to amp up the theatrics just a bit. Now is the time for dramatic announcements. It's a rival thing, you wouldn't understand.
"Today, two heroes have bravely teamed up against the foul creatures of the night, defeating foe after foe in their quest to save the citizens of Los Angeles from their terrible fate!" he proclaims, punctuating his sentence by frying yet another cyborg's circuits. "Fear not, my friend, for we have come to rescue you!!"

But as soon as she hears the voice she perks up. She knows that voice. Panic and hope both crowd in her chest, vying for her attention. She's found Cynthia, but if Cynthia is here...Milly only hopes she's all right. Ignoring Eusine's lengthy speech, Milly launches herself back into the air and rockets for the source of the voice, coming to a whirling stop mid-air in front of Cynthia's cage. She almost forgets she's still holding Eusine by the cape, letting him dangle rather ungracefully from her hand.
"Flourish! Oh my god, Flourish, it's you! I'm so glad I found you! Are you okay?!"
