SUPER BARBECUE SUPER BARBECUE SUPER BARBECUE [open as heck]
Who: SUPER HEROES!!!!!
Where: Ernest E. Debs Regional Park!
When: Sunday!
What: SUPER BARBECUE
Warnings: Superheroes...

It's a pleasant evening at Ernest E. Debs Regional Park, just a couple miles from downtown LA, which can be seen through the haze. Late March means spring is just arriving in LA and the trees are just starting to bud. Unfortunately, the grass is still kind of dead and dry.
The barbecue and picnic area isn't too busy, though the park does have the usual assortment of joggers, dog walkers, and cyclists. There are some balloons tied to picnic tables, and strung between two trees is a very homemade "SUPER BBQ" banner, courtesy of Hulkling and Starbreaker. There's still glitter glue on Milly's apartment floor. There's another posterboard with the rules written on it in big bold sharpie letters nearby, just in case anyone forgets:
[OKAY GUYS!!! mingle! have fun! maybe some THINGS WILL HAPPEN, whoooo knows!]

- Don't be a jerk!!!
- Keep your weapons holstered please.
- Do not trash the park!
- ABSOLUTELY NO FIGHTING
- Anyone caught fighting will be asked to leave!
- Really don't be a jerk!

"I doubt it'll be a problem. They're in a public space, I'm not getting too close or behaving in an invasive manner, everyone's in costume so no secret identities are at risk..." She talks like she's going through some kind of guidebook (she probably is), then abruptly changes tones.
"Besides, I'm not exactly being sneaky here, if anyone wants to make it an issue, they can just tell me not to publish photos of them. I also know for a fact that some people will not have a problem with this, anyway."

"It sounds like you have this very well thought out, then. You say publish-- are you a blogger? A photojournalist?"
Barely even thinking about it, Kit reaches out to Miko's phone with her mind. Unless it's encrypted, it'll only take a few seconds for her to download copies of all the photos she has.

There's pretty much no sort of security on the phone. Miko has taken pictures of just about everybody there, and a few shots of groups, mostly from a distance and occasionally motion-blurred or obstructed, though she's already cut out most of the really bad ones. There aren't any pictures from the previous day or earlier - those have already been moved to her laptop.

"Good for you, I hear it's not easy to land a job in print media these days. I had you pegged more for a blogger type. Are you planning to write a big story about the barbecue?"
One of the healing nerve grafts in Kit's new leg sends a twinge shooting down to her carbon fiber foot, and she winces and shifts her weight to her other leg. Maybe she shouldn't have left her crutches at home so soon.

"Probably, yeah! Assuming nobody else gets to it first..." After all, she wasn't technically assigned to do this. But then, she isn't assigned to do most of what she sees as the really good stories.
"Maybe if-" She pauses, brow furrowing slightly. "Hey, you okay?" Maybe there's something wrong with that leg?
