[alarmed robot sounds]

For an instant, she stands there and stares in shock as what just happened sinks in. Then, with a snarl of irritation, she pulls up her hood to cover her head the best she can and takes off after Ramir, shouting over her shoulder for the newly-stolen purse's owner to just stay there for a few minutes.

Artemis may not be a speedster, not on the level of... well, any hero who actually trades primarily on speed. But she's faster than a lot of humans, and she knows how to navigate a city street. Unfortunately, she does run into a little problem where she's more adjusted to a city with a much lower population.

On one hand, Ramir's behavior means that there's often a moment where there's a clear path right behind her. On the other, it makes the crowd's behavior even more unpredictable, and it takes far more focus than Artemis would like to keep on dodging around and edging between the civilians. It doesn't slow her down as much as it might, but it definitely slows her down - and it's not long before she just gives up and leaves the sidewalk entirely, putting on another burst of speed once she's on the street (and shooting occasional glances at the road ahead of her; she would rather not get hit by a car, thanks) in an effort to cut Ramir off.
