Orion can barely lift the Forge in this beaten and starved state, and so when it's handed over to him, the end of drops to the ground when he quickly becomes unable to support its weight. As soon as Orion's hands are on the handle, though, the state of the hammer begins to change - the spiral at its end open and beginning slowly spinning, energy seeming to run directly through Orion to power its function.

Some part of him had hopes that it wouldn't work, that without the Matrix it wouldn't be enough. This is enough to easily prove him wrong.

He looks at Megatron helplessly. He still doesn't know what he's supposed to do.
