He'd been headed in from some errand in the city, and he was just starting to set into the dunes. He preferred the dunes to the streets, really. Thick treads and huge tires lend themselves more easily to sand, and there's a certain thrill in powering up a dune just to slide down the other side. His engine is working up toward its roar — when it spots something. His engine quiets again as he slows, and a moment later his front tires turn, steering himself toward what he's decided is worth investigating.

As he draws nearer, he discovers he was right: a troll. Specifically, a troll he's met before. He revs his engine to cover the last of the distance between them, adding a flash of his headlights in case the noise wasn't enough. And as he draws close: "You come here often?"
