It's easy for Jon to ignore his own discomfort, less so the discomfort of anyone he cares about. He clenches his right hand, then springs it open with a fistful of claws.

"I can cut through the bars, but it could take awhile," says Jon. "Katniss, do you think you could blow the door off the hinges without hurting anyone?"

It would be easier if the cages had a visible locking mechanism, but jon hadn't been able to figure out how his own cage had worked, and these could be different, designed to hold much larger animals.
